BBFORPEACE DONATES FOOD AND NON FOOD MATERIALS TO JESUS KIDS ORPHANAGE FOR DISABLED CHILDREN TO MARK VALENTINE’S DAY

Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is celebrated annually on February 14. It originated as a Roman Catholic feast day honouring one or two early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine and, it has over the years become a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and romantic love in many parts of the world.

Valentine’s Day is synonymous to love and in recent times, many people are beginning to see that Valentine’s Day should not only be reserved for certain kinds of love but love to all humanity.

To mark the 2021 Valentine’s Day, members of the Building Blocks for Peace Foundation (BBFORPEACE) paid a visit to Jesus Kids Orphanage for the Disabled, Iwo Road, Ibadan where we donated food and non-food materials and admonish the children on the importance of Love and Peace.

BBFORPEACE Director of Administration, Miss Stephanie Effevottu spoke to the children on the importance of loving one another as love is what makes the world go around. She took time to expound on living in peace with each other as an extension of love, especially in making sure not to let bitterness from offence take root in their heart. She explained to the children that offences will always come as a result of two or more people relating but it is important that when they come, it is addressed immediately instead of being allowed to fester and grow into bitterness.

Miss Folasade, a member of the organisation also expanded on the significance of the day by making the children understand that they are loved as well because it is usually when one feels the love that they can extend it to other people. She told them to do an exercise every morning where they say to themselves that Jesus loves them and take it a step further by including their names to personalize it.

The children felt happy that they were also remembered on an occasion like Valentine’s Day. The staff of the orphanage appreciated the BBFORPEACE team for the visitation and encouraged the children to abide by the words that they had been blessed with.
