BBFORPEACE WINS AWARD AS ‘‘THE BEST YOUNG PEACEBUILDING ORGANISATION IN NIGERIA”
Building Blocks for Peace Foundation (BBFORPEACE) has been named as the ‘‘2020/2021 Best Young Peacebuilding Organisation in Nigeria’’ by the West African Network of Peacebuilding-Nigeria at the 2021 General Assembly of WANEP which held on the 23rd June 2021 in Abuja, Nigeria.
The award was given for the outstanding contributions of BBFORPEACE to mobilizing and empowering young people for peace across Nigeria and championing the domestication of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 and the African Union Continental Framework on Youth, Peace and Security in the country.
Building Blocks for Peace foundation is a network of young people working on conflict prevention, peacebuilding, accountability governance and sustainability development in Nigeria. The network has been building the resilience of young people in Nigeria against violent philosophies through innovative approaches such as peer to peer engagement, peace education, policy advocacy, research, reward system, empowerment and media programming.
The Executive Director of the organisation who received the award on behalf of the youth network at the ceremony commended the organisers of the award for the recognition bestowed on BBFORPEACE and promised that the organisation will do more in ensuring that young people continue to meaningfully contribute to the peace and development trajectory of Nigeria.
